Paperback. Condition: Very Good. This collection of Theroux's short novels span his fictional world: from a pair of post-adolescent malcontents hiding from their future to a vulnerable ageing stripper and single mother who finds God. Theroux's characters struggle with indeterminate, and often cruel, destinies. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine in Fine dust jacket. 12mo. 148 pp. First American edition of this scarce thriller, which was first released in 1969 in England in very small numbers by a publisher Theroux worked with for the first and last time. Red hardback cloth cover. First Edition. 190mm x 120mm (7" x 5"). 160pp. With rubbed dust jacket. VG: in very good condition. Slight foxing to top of edge-block. Unclipped.
Hardcover. Condition: Fine. First Edition. Hardback. Dust Jacket. 8vo. pp 160. TherouxĠs scarcest book. Original publisher's red cloth lettered gilt at the spine. Fine in near fine dust jacket faintly rubbed at edges. No inscriptions, not price-clipped. Excellent condition.
Condition: Fine in near fine jacket. Uncommonly attractive first edition of Theroux's novel about a worthless young man shipped off to a pointless war, and the elderly sentimentalists who set out to bloodily avenge him. Theroux's third novel is a grouchy Vietnam War-era satire concerning an unwilling draftee who talks himself into a measure of self-sacrifice for the only cause that really means anything: at least, he reasons, "my death will keep that television going." Meanwhile, his landlady sets out to do her part on the home front by murdering some local communists. The novel was written in 1966, following Theroux's expulsion from the Peace Corps and (as the jacket flap notes) during the state of emergency in Uganda, when a curfew kept the author perpetually indoors. Whether this suffices to satisfactorily explain the book is doubtful. 7'' x 5''. Original red cloth with gilt-lettered spine. In original unclipped (25s.) dust jacket. 160 pages. Light scuffing to jacket at extremities.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Signed by Author(s) Scarcely available first edition copy of this book. Near fine copy of the book in a very good DW. The copy is ex-library and has a neat stamp on publishing page. There is also a stamp on the FEP which is not as neat and looks as if there has been a sticker removed from over it. Overall it is a tight and bright copy, with no loss to its text. Some bumps to top of spine and some slight tanning to page edges. The DW has some bumps to its top and bottom edges and two minor chips to spine edges. Overall though it is still a rare copy. Signed to the titlepage, simply "Paul Theroux". ISigned by Author(s).
