Book
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Perna, Debi (illustrator). Clean, tight, unmarked; a few light scratches to covers; otherwise very minimal wear; This book, which has been beautifully reillustrated by Debi Perna, is a collection of 32 folk songs drawn from Canada's rich musical tradition. Interspersed is an easy-flowing commentary on the music and the people who made that music: the loggers, the voyageurs, the coureurs-de-bois, the fishermen, the sailors. Here is the plaintive voice of Louis Riel, the call of the Klondike, the songs explorers sang to pace their paddles. Suggestions are given for musical instruments best suited to particular songs and ideas for games. Many of the lyrics are in both French and English, as well as Inuktitut and Huron.
