Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Black hardcover with gilt lettering. The mother and daughter writing team has authored an amusing, sometimes zany, mystery of the maiden voyage of a cruise ship sailing out of Miami offering free passage to reward people " who have made the world a better place." On board are 10 men in Santa Claus outfits to enhance the after Christmas holiday theme. Two stowaways are also wearing these outfits and a murderer is also on board. Add lots of accidents and a group of writers and some amateur detectives, and we have a lively story. Almost invisible scratches on front of otherwise very good dust jacket.

Since his prize essay on theRenaissanceat Oxford, Symonds had wanted to study it further and particlarly the reawakening of art and literature in Europe. His work was interrupted by serious illness. In 1877 his life was in danger. His recovery atDavos Platzled him to believe this was the only place where he was likely to enjoy life. He practically made his home at Davos and wrote about it inOur Life in the Swiss Highlands(1891). Symonds became a citizen of the town. There he wrote most of his books: biographies ofShelley(1878),Philip Sidney(1886),Ben Jonson(1886) andMichelangelo(1893), several volumes of poetry and essays, and a translation of theAutobiography ofBenvenuto Cellini(1887). There, too, he completed his study of theRenaissance, the work for which he is chiefly remembered. He was feverishly active throughout his life. Considering his poor health, his productivity was remarkable.
