Hardcover. Condition: Very Good/Very Good. A copy that has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged. A woman is drawn into the hunt for her sister's killer in this electrifying new thriller from the New York Times bestselling author of The Quiet Game. "A tour de force of suspense. It could as easily-and terrifyingly-be set in the Kansas of Truman Capote's In Cold Blood." -The Commercial Appeal (review of 24 Hours) With five novels, Greg Iles has proven himself one of the most talented and versatile thriller writers at work today. Critics hailed 24 Hours as "diab olical" (People), "ingenious" (London Times), "masterfully written" (New Or leans Times-Picayune), and "brilliantly plotted bone-chilling suspense" (Pu blishers Weekly). In Dead Sleep, Iles gives us his most intricate and emoti onally resonant story ever. Jordan Glass, a photojournalist on a well-earned vacation, wanders into a H ong Kong art museum and is puzzled to find fellow patrons eyeing her with c uriosity. Minutes later, she stumbles upon a gallery containing a one-artis t exhibition called "The Sleeping Women," a mysterious series of paintings that has caused a sensation in the world of modern art. Collectors have com e to believe that the canvases depict female nudes not in sleep but in deat h, and they command millions at auction. When Jordan approaches the last wo rk in the series, she freezes. The face in the painting seems to be her own . This unsettling event hurls her back into a nightmare she has fought desperately to put behind her-for, in fact, the face in the painting belongs not to Jordan but to her twin sis.

Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. 1st Edition. Putnam Publishing Group, The, New York, NY, U.S.A., 2000. Hardcover. Book Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. First Edition, First Printing. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. As new, in fine, mylar-protected dust jacket. Dimensions: 6.4 x 1.3 x 9.3 inches Weight: 1.4 pounds Spenser creator Robert B. Parker returns with his newest heroine, Boston P.I. Sunny Randall, coming to the aid of three very different women in three very dangerous situations. One is for business. One is for a friend. One is for family. And all could be fatal. From Publishers Weekly Boston PI Sunny Randle, given her second outing here, is to Parker's veteran PI Spenser as Pepsi is to Coke: a bit lighter and sweeter, but still the real deal. And in the literary equivalent of a blind taste test, you'd be hard pressed to tell them apart; this second Sunny novel, even more than her first (Family Honor), is a Spenser book wearing a skirt. About now, the author's fans might be yearning for a change of pace of the sort Parker has offered in his stand-alones and his Jesse Stone series; still, what's here is quite good. The novel revolves around assorted couples' dysfunctional liaisons. In one significant subplot, Sunny's obnoxious and spoiled sister, Elizabeth, hires Sunny to trail her husband, whom she suspects of having an affair; when Sunny catches the lothario, Elizabeth leaves him and begins to sleep around. In another, Sunny's old therapist pal, Julie, is having troubles with her beloved and is also starting to date. And in the novel's main plotline, a lesbian activist who hires Sunny to protect her from a stalker also turns out to be stuck in a web of infidelity and murder. Two killings, a man Sunny pinpoints as the stalker, and a woman who works for the activist eventually bring Sunny into the orbit of scary black gangster Tony Marcus, who runs prostitution in Boston. The scenes involving Sunny, Marcus and Marcus's underlings crackle with tension and sometimes violence; the rest of the novel presents a wholly absorbing puzzle of confused motives and whodunits that Sunny picks at as doggedly as any PI going.
