Cloth. Condition: Near Fine. None (illustrator). First edition. A very smart first US edition of this political biographical work exploring the Russian anti-Communist underground organisations. Signed and inscribed by the editor, Milt Hill. First US edition. Signed and inscribed by Milt Hill in presentation to Robert La Follette Jr., an American politician. The inscription reads: "To Bob La Follette - with deep appreciation for having had faith in us on many things that never will be written. Milt Hill Sept. 30th 1950." A political and psychological autobiography, with references to the author's experiences as a member of Russian anti-Communist underground movements in the Carpathian Mountains. Becoming part of the National Alliance of Russian Solidarists, a group preparing for the eventual revolution against the Kremlin, the author found himself enrolled as an interpreter for SMERSH - a counter-intelligence group known for their brutal interrogation of civilians suspected of anti-Communist actions. The name was coined by Joseph Stalin, meaning "death to spies". Written by Nicola Sinevirsky, a Russian writer. Edited by Kermit and Milt Hill, American editors. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor bumping to the extremities and light fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Editor's ink inscription to the front endpaper. Near Fine. signed by author. book.
