From Library Journal:
The author of several works concerning non-Western religions, including Encyclopedia of Gods (LJ 7/93), Jordan here discusses Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Taoism, Confucianism, Shinto, and Zen. Most pages have attractive and relevant color illustrations, and brief articles about each religious tradition discuss such topics as rituals, sacred writings, the pantheon of gods, sacred places, symbols, and sects. Jordan's straightforward narrative provides no real critical analysis or broad integration of the material but does present a large amount of information in a limited space. Appropriate for most collections.?Richard S. Watts, San Bernardino Cty. Lib., CA
