In The Valley of Grace - Softcover

I started writing my poems after my grandmother died. It was in my grief that I discovered God’s grace. Suffering is a good thing for a Christian. It is only in war that a soldier’s senses are sharpened. In peace and prosperity the senses slacken and become dull. It is in the most peaceful times that even the strongest of warriors lays down his or her guard. O that more days would come that bring forth suffering and persecution, for our faith is built on the faith found in the blood of Jesus Christ. Here was the perfect lamb that was slain on our behalf. He suffered the ultimate death separation from his father so that we would not be lost. We should not fear these “momentary light afflictions” (2 Cor. 4:17) for they bring us one step closer to our Savior—this is the truth that is found in this work. I pray, beloved, that you will be encouraged by the words in this book. I pray that God would comfort you in the trials you are facing. Do not despair dear brother in the faith. Do not despair dear sister. Look to Christ our ultimate deliverer. This present world will one day all pass away but God’s love for his people will remain. Be faithful dear soldier. Let us pray for those being deceived by the wolves in sheep’s clothing masquerading throughout modern evangelicalism. Pray also for those who have never heard the gospel. Love them enough to warn them of the judgment that is coming. At the end of this life may God find us ever faithful to him and to him alone. —Levi Cook
