Do the little things we do and say really make a difference in the lives of others? Some Men Are Our Heroes answers this question with a resounding "yes" as eight accomplished Christian women tell the stories of the men in their lives who helped them achieve remarkable things for God's kingdom. These touching stories of women from around the world and the fathers, husbands, brothers, pastors, colleagues, and friends who encouraged, strengthened, and challenged them along their life journeys will warm the hearts of women and men alike.

Book Description Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Do the little things we do and say really make a difference in the lives of others Some Men Are Our Heroes answers this question with a resounding ''yes'' as eight accomplished Christian women tell the stories of the men in their lives who helped them achieve remarkable things for God's kingdom. These touching stories of women from around the world and the fathers, husbands, brothers, pastors, colleagues, and friends who encouraged, strengthened, and challenged them along their life journeys will warm the hearts of women and men alike.''Some Men Are Our Heroes warrants a reading by both women and men. The value of a supportive male in a woman's life is incalculable . . . Fathers, brothers, husbands, male church leaders would benefit from learning ways to encourage the women in their lives. Women in leadership will benefit from reflecting on their own journeys and giving words of appreciation to the men who have instrumentally influenced them. This book surely will cheer the reader on in her or his own ministry voyage.''Bev HislopAssociate Professor of Pastoral CareWestern Seminary, Portland, Oregon and Sacramento and San Jose, California''This volume documents a veritable underground railroad of Christian males who have encouraged women in the development of their gifts. At a time when both Christian and secular culture remained stubbornly committed to the norms of gender essentialism and gender hierarchy, these men recognized that neither the parable of the talents nor the fruits of the spirit are coded in pink or blue. I finished reading the book with the same reaction I suspect God has had to the women and men described in it--namely, 'Well done, good and faithful servants'--of both sexes!''Mary Stewart Van LeeuwenProfessor and Psychology Department Chair, Eastern University''This is a heart-warming book on a critical topic. We need both genders to experience full Christian spirituality and to give holistic leadership in the church and world. Through these personal stories men of all cultures are invited to equip the women in their lives. A delicious read.''R. Paul StevensProfessor Emeritus of Marketplace TheologyRegent College, Vancouver, British Columbia''Thank God for the stories of strong women who are leaders in their own right and the men who inspire them to multiply their gifts and graces. I felt as if I were 'standing on tiptoe with all creation to see the wonderful sight of the daughters and sons of God coming into their own.'''David McKennaauthor of Stewards of a Sacred Trust''Knowing, as I do, that men are often cast as warriors at heart, it is wonderfully refreshing to read the male-affirming reflections of highly respected women. With candor and sensitivity, Some Men Are Our Heroes brings gender equality back to its rightful place in the unfolding drama of the family of faith.''Bob LuptonPresidentFCS Urban MinistriesKeumJu Jewel Hyun is Adjunct Professor of Bakke Graduate University, Seattle, Washington and founder and President of Matthew 28 Ministries, Inc., a nonprofit organization that seeks to train pastors and church leaders and to develop Christian women's leadership in Kenya. She and her husband, Gene, have two adult children and four grandchildren.Cynthia Davis Lathrop attended Western Connecticut State University and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. She is a deacon at the Christian Pentecostal Church of Newton, Massachusetts. She is married to John P. Lathrop, and they have five adult children and three grandchildren.
