About the Author:
Caroline Goodfellow is curator of dolls and toys at the Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood, a branch of London's Victoria & Albert Museum. A noted authority on dolls and toys, she also advises auction houses and private collectors. Goodfellow is the author of Understanding Dolls and Rare Character Dolls.

Dolls have had a major role in domestic life for centuries. In addition to being children's toys, they reflect the various cultures, lifestyles, and customs of any given civilization.
