The essential, cutting-edge, exactly-what-you-need-to-know guide to heart health for every man and woman—from a leading cardiologist and professor, and longstanding spokesperson for the American Heart Association.
In the last decade, the rules for outliving heart disease—living well with your heart until you die of something else—have changed dramatically for you and your doctors. Weekly, even daily, new and often confusing information about experimental findings is disseminated, and sometimes refuted several months later. But when the chatter dies down, a select percentage of that information is meaningful and crucial because it will affect not only how long you live, but how you live each day with heart disease. It's this invaluable information that Dr. Stein wants to share, distilling it for the first time in this accessible, reader-friendly book that can save your life.
Following a discussion of the latest medical advancements involved in treatment, Dr. Stein lays out ten chapters, each presenting a new rule for outliving heart disease. Complete with resource lists, special "What to Expect from Your Doctor" sections, and colorful anecdotes throughout, Outliving Heart Disease is the one book that contains the most up-to-date, proven information available for preventing and treating heart disease.
