About the Author:
Jim Higginbotham has spent his entire adult life in the pursuit of a practical knowledge of firearms and their uses. In that time he has been a Peace Officer, a civil servant, a contractor for the U.S. Army, Firearms Instructor (with multiple credentials), a practicing gunsmith, armorer, competitor, expert witness and hunter. He taught his first firearms class in 1969. Among several awards for his firearms-related work or performance, he has been awarded the Distinguished Service Medal by the Kentucky National Guard, given a Senior Expert rating by Jeff Cooper of the American Pistol Institute (Gunsite), was the second person to pass the Masters Test at Rangemaster in Memphis, TN, and awarded “Most Accurate Shooter” at the 2000 IDPA National Championship. Jim has contributed to several books by other authors, including Survival Shooting, The Complete Guide to Concealed Carry and Fighting Smarter, all by Tom Givens as well as Defensive Handguns by Stephen A. Camp. His training has been featured in the F.B.I. Training Bulletin September 2010. He has been the topic of a number of magazine articles in Combat Handguns and S.W.A.T. magazines, and is currently in the process of publishing The Weaponcraft Journal, a publication of the American Institute of Marksmanship.
