From School Library Journal:
Grade 4-9–Sorensen includes personal information and details about how Hawk and his father promoted skateboarding. Jones and Khris have more history of the sports' development and briefer biographical information. All three titles have plenty of colorful action photos. The difficulties or problems these men had to overcome on their journeys to success are also part of each book. Sorensen's title joins the ranks of Jeff Savage's Tony Hawk, Skateboarding Legend (Capstone, 2004); Matt Christopher's On the Halfpipe with...Tony Hawk (Little Brown, 2001); and Mark Stewart's One Wild Ride: The Life of Skateboarding Superstar Tony Hawk (Millbrook, 2003). Ian F. Mahaney's Taïg Khris: In-line Skating Champion and Kevin Jones: Snowboarding Champion (both Rosen, 2005) are the only other titles available about these athletes and are for a slightly younger audience. If your library needs more to satisfy your extreme-sports fans, these three titles should do.–Kate Kohlbeck, Randall School, Waukesha, WI
