This book is the first edition to the second edition, "The Healthcare Supply Chain: Best Practices for Operating at the Intersection of Cost, Quality, and Outcomes," released in 2018. Transforming the healthcare supply chain requires a total paradigm shift—changes in thinking as well as practices to move from volume-driven transactions to strategic value creation. This book outlines various levels of supply chain performance, providing guidance that hospital and health system executives can use to implement supply chain strategies that reduce total expenses, improve patient care, and better align with value-based reimbursement models to improve overall operations. A truly strategic supply chain functions at the intersection of cost, quality, and outcomes—this book will help benchmark current supply chain performance and outline steps to help healthcare organizations move toward a clinically integrated, strategic supply chain.
