The art of painting on silk is fascinating but many people who would like to explore this medium lack the confidence to create their own designs. This book has been specifically written to overcome this reluctance. The beginner will find a comprehensive introduction to the basis of technical and artistic construction, while the more experienced devotee will be inspired by the examples featured in this book, covering photographs from nature to work by by well-known artists.

Review:
July 2006 This is a wonderful gallery of beautiful silk paintings but more than that it explains where to gain inspiration for your own magical silk paintings. It shows various breathtaking photographs with tips on how to translate the photos into wonderful silk paintings. The book also contains example paintings of well-know artists with details on how each painting was achieved. This book shows you how to paint everyday objects and turn them into an exquisite piece of art. The useful rundown on all the techniques and handling of materials proved essential reading for me. I am now looking forward to making a simple scarf with a picture of some flowers from my back garden. A lovely book indeed!! * minigallery.co.uk *
