This is a beautifully designed book written in a friendly, knowledgeable voice that's never too technicalAjust what one would expect from an author who's previously won the Inspirational Gardening Book award. This is a British book, so some plant suggestions may not be entirely appropriate for all U.S. gardens, but it makes a nice supplement to Linda Yang's classic works on the subject and the new utilitarian Taylor guide, Small Gardens: How To Get the Most Impact from the Least Space by Glenn Morris (Houghton, 1999).
