Tracer, Inc. started as a screenplay in 1986. I adapted it as a novel a couple of years later. People who read the script wondered why it wasn't a novel. People who read the novel thought it would work better as a movie or a television series. Scribner finally said OK to the novel and published it in hardcover in 1994. It is now being released at an eBook.
