From School Library Journal:
PreSchool-Grade 2-- In this latest book about Mousekin, the little white-footed mouse encounters his first snowman. He approaches "the giant of snow" hesitantly at first, but then discovers its woolen hat has many uses. He spends his night using the hat as a hiding place from hungry predators, pulling out bits of wool for his nest. He awakens at dusk when the forest animals discover a Christmas tree decorated with food next to the snowman. Readers will enjoy being "in the know" while Mousekin puzzles over the tracks left by children and their sled. Soft pastel watercolors realistically capture the woodland animals in their daily struggle for survival. A gentle, but somewhat bland story in which plot is secondary to descriptions of the forest environment. --Pearl Herscovitch, University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada
