NO BAD DOGS THE WOODHOUSE WAY A Lot Of Rubbish has been spoken about the psychoanalyzing of dogs in the modern world, and having now trained over 17,000 dogs in twenty years, I feel I am qualified to express an opinion on the subject of dog behavior. For years I have been collecting data for this book from letters I have had from desperate or depressed dog owners whose dogs are causing them worry or despair. I feel I must help them further by debunking many ideas about dogs and their minds. Then at least the dogs' lives may be made more normal and their owners happy. If dog owners recognize their dog's failure and their own personal problems, this is a hopeful sign. For many people realize only too well that even though they have owned perfect dogs in the past, today's vintage may not be the same. Their old theories and methods may be completely out of date. With vast experience behind me I believe that unless a dog is unapproachably savage or mentally unsound, it can be made a decent member of society and a joy to own. Thus was coined my school motto, which is "There is no such thing as a difficult dog, only an inexperienced owner."
