Sammy and the Robots - Hardcover

PreSchool-Grade 1-The irrepressible boy from Sammy and the Dinosaurs (Orchard, 1999) is back. He is caught by surprise when his beloved robot conks out on him, but his grandmother helps pack up the toy and send it off to the robot hospital. They lay out supplies (paper, empty plastic bottle, straws, etc.) to create a new robot while they wait for the old one to be fixed. When Granny is hospitalized, Sammy works hard to make some robots to help her recover: "They guarded her. They marched for her. And they blasted her cough." When she returns home, Sammy's old robot arrives in the mail, "good as new." The bright pen-and-watercolor illustrations work magically to bring life to the charming robots and characters. Adorable endpapers filled with the lovingly created robots complete the book. Sammy is a winsome winner.
