Sonia Sotomayor, la primera mujer hispana y tercera mujer nombrada para el Tribunal Supremo de los Estados Unidos, era una niña cuando se atrevió a soñar en grande. ¿Su sueño? Convertirse en un abogado y un juez. Como explica la juez Sotomayor: "Cuando era niña, mi familia era pobre y no conocíamos abogados ni jueces, y ninguno vivía en nuestro vecindario. About the Author:
SONIA SOTOMAYOR se graduó con honores summa cum laude de la Universidad de Princeton en 1976 y de la Facultad de Derecho de Yale en 1979. Trabajó como asistente del fiscal de distrito en Nueva York y luego en el bufete de abogados de Pavia & Harcourt. Ella sirvió como jueza del Tribunal de Distrito de los Estados Unidos, Distrito Sur de Nueva York, de 1992 a 1998, y de 1998 a 2009 sirvió en el Tribunal de Apelaciones de los Estados Unidos para el Segundo Circuito. En mayo de 2009, el presidente Barack Obama la nominó como juez asociado de la Corte Suprema. Sotomayor asumió este rol 8 de agosto de 2009.
