Wade's 1989 volume, offering a fresh look at Carter's youth and presidency plus tributes to his humanitarian work for Habitat for Humanity and the Jimmy Carter Center. Kent structures her portrait around significant themes in Carter's life, from his work ethic to his religion to his maverick political style. She gives equal weight to his successes and his failures, noting that he is likely to be remembered less for his accomplishments as president than for his postpresidential activities. Enhanced with occasional sidebars, many color photographs, Fast Facts features for him as well as Rosalynn, and multimedia resource lists, this provides insight into both the man and his career and makes an excellent choice for middle-grade assignments.
