From Library Journal:
One of the attractions of bird-watching is that it can be a year-round pursuit even in regions of severe cold and deep snow. Covering North American birds "that can winter north of 40 degrees north latitude, except waterfowl and sea birds," this well-illustrated guide includes brief descriptions with data on winter behavior and food. Bird feeding, winter photography, and the adaptations that enable birds to survive harsh winters are briefly surveyed. A directory of winter birding "hot spots" is appended, but some listings--an entire national park or forest--are too general to be truly helpful. Though a pleasant book that will be used in public libraries in the regions it covers, this does not contain enough new material to be an essential purchase.
