General Insurance is designed primarily as a text for students who have had no other college course on insurance and risk. As such, it combines basic terminology, principles, and contracts. It is also comprehensive in presenting all-lines insurance, including life, health, property, and liability coverages. Its occasional usefulness for second-level courses in insurance is also expected. After all, courses vary greatly in the class time or credit hours allowed, from perhaps as little as 30 classroom hourse in a 10-week quarter to as much as 75 hours in a 15-week semester.
