There is one small discolouration on the front end paper, but no marks or wear. The illustrated covers are fresh, with light wear at tips and corners. The dust jacket is is also in very good condition, with very light wear, but no chips or damage. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: The publisher describes Antelope Books as "with their continuous story and single close-knitted plot, are intended for children of about six to about nine years of age, although they are equally suitable for reading aloud". Story: Roger and Cathy, who both wanted a pony, found a Victorian toy pony-cart in a junk shop, and lucky Cathy bought it for a penny. They called their new companion Prince Penny, took him everywhere, and had wonderful adventures. But when they went away on their holidays with their parents, Prince Penny disappeared. Original price clipped dj is complete, shows micro wrinkles at upper board tips but displays beautifully. It looked just like a real pony, but it was not in a field or a stall. It was in a junk shop. And it squealed from rust and age when it walked. 'It's been stuck away for years and years,' said Mrs. Boddy, who owned the shop, Lucky Cathy bought it for a penny. That was why it was called the penny pony. It was not a live pony, but it was the next best thing, and Cathy looked after it as if it were a real pony - until she and Roger had to go away.
