A silly picture book about Enoch P. Nuts and his motley crew of inept pirates whose ugly looks and fearsome stench put any they approach to flight. Their booty to date has been woolen socks and bananas, so, reading in the Sunday Pirate of the birthday treasure bound for the Evil Pasha of Cockanbull's daughter, they set out to capture the ship--only to discover that the treasure is a room full of singing parrots. They are caught and imprisoned by the Pasha, and are eventually rescued by a put-out princess. The cartoons of gluttonous or drunken Arab-types add little to an inane story; this pointless and sometimes tasteless trivia's best contribution is its colorful endpapers of parrots swinging on the shrouds. --Ruth M.
