Interleaved with the big fix story are sexual interludes of graphic intensity. Higgins is widely enjoyed for his command of the crime idiom (e.g., his now-classic Friends of Eddie Coyle ) . Though the dialogue still sizzles and the action is hot, there is enough huffing and puffing to make the reader realize it's the 15th book and a little over ideal weight for the distance.
